Implementation Overview

Reflection

Reading everyone’s feedback on my Pre-K Rhyming Google Classroom truly made my day. It was so encouraging to hear that the layout felt clear, organized, and easy to follow not just for students, but for families too. I really tried to make sure everything was simple and engaging for our littlest learners, so Katelyn’s comment about clear directions really hit home. Veronica and Ann’s kind words about the structure reminded me how important that piece is, especially at the early learning level. Ayla’s note about how creative early childhood lessons can be made me smile, it’s one of the reasons I love teaching this age group!

After taking in everyone’s suggestions and reactions, I made a few small updates. I added a short parent video to the “Start Here” section to help families feel even more confident navigating the classroom, and I tweaked a few module titles to make the flow clearer. Sometimes it just takes a fresh set of eyes to see where small improvements can be made.  This aligns closely with the COVA model (Harapnuik, Thibodeaux, & Cummings, 2018), which emphasizes learning through authentic experiences, voice, and reflection—peer feedback being a critical part of that process.

Overall, this process reminded me how powerful peer feedback can be not just for making things better, but for building confidence. It helped me see how far I’ve come as a designer of digital learning, and I’m honestly excited to keep refining this unit and maybe even sharing it with other teachers down the road.  This experience also reflects the principles of a Significant Learning Environment (CSLE) where learners are empowered to take ownership and continually grow through self-directed improvement (Cummings, Thibodeaux, & Harapnuik, 2017). Plus, designing for Pre-K students required me to be intentional about accessibility and engagement, both of which are essential in early childhood digital instruction (NAEYC, 2012).

@Cristy Silkin Your video and Google Classroom look great! I love how students get choice, but directions are clear. Very important for our littlest learners. Your welcome section introduces the unit perfectly and gets families set up for success!

Cristy, your Google Classroom is amazing. I like how you have everything set up, and the flow of all your modules makes it easy for your students and families to follow. Taking notes for your classroom.

@Cristy Silkin I love the layout of your google classroom! You have so many great activities for the kids to do. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like teaching other subjects because of all the things you can do. Core subjects seem to always have great resources and you have used them perfectly!

Great layout and very organized, Cristy. It is very detailed and organized. my jaw just drops at how much you all have to do at the lower levels.
