About Me.
Hello, and welcome to my ePortfolio! I'm excited that you are taking this opportunity to explore my innovative learning through this digital resource. It was not until recently that I understood how essential ePortfolios are for showcasing yourself. Learning is continuous, as this creation proves.

My name is Cristy, and I'm originally from Austin, Arkansas. After graduating from the University of Central Arkansas with a degree in Finance, my husband and I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. However, after working in the banking world for five years, I realized my passion was elsewhere. We decided to move to Texas to be closer to family in 2013. This was the fresh start I needed to change careers. I'm now a certified teacher by going through the alternative teaching certification program with Dallas ISD. I have certifications in EC-6, ESL, and House Bill 3, also known as Reading Academy.

My favorite hobby is reading for pleasure, which leads me to do something I never imagined doing. Two years ago, I had a super challenging school year due to behaviors in the classroom. I had excellent classroom management and implementation, but one student resisted all of my best efforts. So naturally, I wrote a children’s book called The Worst Day Ever and published it on KDP! I used the pseudonym for the publishing of the story. The tools I used to create the book were new to me. I taught myself how to use Midjourney with Discord to make the images, along with Photoshop, and bring those pictures to life. I’m excited to say that others have told me that their students love the story.

I use different digital tools within the classroom, but my favorite thing is creating new and exciting resources for my students. I used to look for resources online to enhance my teaching at the school, but now, since learning Midjourney and Canva, I’ve been creating digital resources for my students to use. I can make them digital and push them to Seesaw or print them for center-based learning. I'm becoming more interested in the digital side of teaching, and more students are using digital instruction either in the classroom or at home. This will continue to grow within the next several years due to student's different learning styles.
